Training Questions
|
1.) Q When does registration for CBT start? |
A The MARS CBT will be available on April 1. It will include four of the five modules: Overview of the Components of MARS, Overview of Advantage Functionality, Overview of Procurement Desktop Functionality and User Support Options. The fifth module which is the Overview of BRASS Functionality will be available on May 1. Registrations for the CBT may be submitted now. |
2.) Q Will CBT access be limited to those who will be taking ILT? |
A No. The MARS CBT can be taken by all administrative services employees in an agency. It is a prerequisite for those employees who will be enrolled in Instructor-Led Training courses. |
3.) Q Will there be limited access to CD-ROM versions? |
A The MARS CBT will be available via the Web, wide area network and CD-ROM. There will only be ten (10) CD's produced. They will have to be loaned to employees for a very limited time period and are intended primarily for those who are not connected to the network or who don't have access to the Internet. |
4.) Q What is the difference between Procurement classes and PD Web? |
A Administrative Services employees who request and/or order goods and services should take the PD Web course. Other employees who receive goods and services or who make payments to vendors should take the General Procurement or Contracting courses. Employees who are using dial-up to access PD may also want to use PD Web. |
5.) Q Will it be possible for the small agency people to attend all courses? Will they get priority? |
A Administrative Services employees in small agencies will be provided slots in all classes. It is recommended that they prioritize which classes that they need to attend as part of implementation training in order for their agency to be operational on July 1. If they determine that they need to attend each class prior to July 1 in order for their agency to be operational, then every effort will be made to schedule them in the necessary classes. It is recommended that they submit their MARS training requests (DIS-F049) as soon as possible for ILT courses, because these courses will be filled on a "first come - first serve" basis. |
6.) Q Check CLT on-line registration form. |
A The Computer Literacy Training on-line registration form has been re-checked and can be completed on-line. It must be saved then sent to Patti Wooldridge at the Systems Training Branch as an attachment. If you experience any problems with completing the form, please contact Freida Vinson, DIS Systems Training Branch at 573-3924, ext. 153. |
7.) Q Do large agencies have to submit individual training request forms for each of their employees or can they submit them in groups via a spreadsheet? |
A Agencies which have to enroll large numbers of employees can submit a single MARS training request form (DIS-F049M) with the following items completed: cabinet/agency, current date, department/division, AIL/TTL signature and approval date. The attached spreadsheet should include: preferred location for ILT courses, training method for CBT, courses (including CBT), employee name (last name, first name), social security number, work address (including city and zip), work phone, e-mail address. Forms and corresponding spreadsheets should be submitted electronically as attachments to an e-mail by the Training Team Lead (TTL) to Patti Wooldridge at the Systems Training Branch. It is important that the information in the spreadsheet follow the order in which it is presented on the F049M form. |
8.) Q Where should questions regarding MARS training be directed? |
A Questions regarding MARS training should be directed to your Agency Training Lead or your Agency Liaison Manager (ALM). If you are unclear who your Agency Training Lead is, please refer to "Agency Implementation Contacts" at http://www.state.ky.us/agencies/adm/mars/org-presentation.html on this Simplified Administrative Services Project web page. |
