Dan Neil Barnes knows about light. His works of sculptural glass revel in it.

Wanting to interpret windows in his own way, Dan began making large three-dimensional pieces comprising hundreds of small stained glass squares. These structures undulate and flow. They catch the light in surprising ways and, as it changes direction and intensity, they respond as if alive.

While working on a recent sculptural commission, he developed a construction method that forgoes a metal frame by weaving structural support directly into the grid. The image to the left shows him installing this piece. Dan is always pushing the limits of what he can do with glass. It is exciting to imagine what he will do with this borderless design.
