State Police Need Help Identifying Female Body Found
Last October in Simpson County
FRANKFORT, KY – Detectives with the Kentucky State Police in Bowling Green are asking for help in identifying a white female whose body was found on October 9, 2001 near Interstate 65 in Simpson County. Estimated date of death is between August 1, 2001 and October 1, 2001; age is 25 to 35 years old and height 5’6" to 5’9". Other identifying characteristics include light reddish-brown hair 12-14 inches long; a healed fracture of the upper right arm, near the shoulder; outline tattoo of a rose on the left breast and many missing or severely decayed teeth. Two rings were found--one is a gold band and the other is silver with a painted enamel blue background with flowers and leaves.
State forensic anthropologist Dr. Emily Craig created a three-dimensional facial reconstruction on the victim’s skull. The reconstruction is not a portrait of the victim, only an approximation created by sculpting clay on the victim’s skull. The sculpture is based on scientific guidelines and can only suggest the shape and proportions of the victim’s face.
Anyone with information should contact Detective Tommy Smith at the Kentucky State Police Post 3 in Bowling Green at 270-782-2010 or 800-222-5555 or via email at williamt.smith@mail.state.ky.us. Patrick Crafton with the Simpson County Coroner’s office also can be contacted at 270-586-7118.
EDITORS PLEASE NOTE: Pictures of the facial reconstruction should not be re-proportioned. This will distort the image. Enlarging or reducing the size of the picture is okay. Pictures can be downloaded from the web at http://www.unidentifiedremains.net. Choose "Cases" and then "Case 8."
