Green County High School science students check a pan full of organisms collected from Pittman Creek near Greensburg, KY

Green County High School has been working in cooperation with theKentucky Division of Water for approximately three years. We began our endevour with the Water Watch Program on the Green River.

Students use colormetric readers
to check for pH, Nitrates and Iron

The second year we expanded our work to include invertebrate studies on tributaries that fed the Green River and flowed past a neighboring manufacturing facility.

next year we began the River-to-River program and have been exchanging information with a school in Russia. All work and information has been collected and discussed as a regular unit in our Biology II class. This has added much interest and everyday life situations to our Science department.
