My sixth grade students analyzed the Green River at Stovall Park near Munfordville, KY for the following:
Dissolved oxygen - 9.0 mg/l
Carbon dioxide - 9.0 mg/l
pH - 7.5 (SU)
Chloride - 10.0 mg/l
Nitrate - less than 0.2 mg/l
The water was very murky and swift, since we have had over 8 inches of rainfall just this month. The temperature was 74 degrees, with a southwesterly wind of 5 mph.
My students will conduct more tests soon. Also, within the next two weeks,
we plan on doing a biological assessment of Cane Run Creek in addition to
it's chemical analysis.
