Sharing Science Education Between Nations


Russian Science teacher, Elena Parakhina provides examples of ecological education techniques. Both American and Russian teachers give presentation on educational strategies and activities for the classroom.

Russian environmental experts share their expertise with the group. Svetlana Vishnevetskaya introduces the group to the Russian Endangered Species list known as the "Red Data Book"


The group of about 35 teachers, specialists and educational administrators work through activities in classroom settings as well as out of doors.


Groups of Russian and American teachers work closely together evaluating educational strategies. A number of Interpreters help with the dialog, but much of the language of education is universal.


The group visited a number of schools in the big city as well as rural Russian communities. Andrei Serdyukov leads his students in Razdorskaya, Russia in ecological expeditions.

Much of the materials used in the sessions are in both English and Russian, allowing clear understanding by both language groups.


Some activities involved playing environmental games that can be used with students. Here American teacher Jan Fowler, Adairville Elementary School leads a group through an exercise that shows how toxic materials can be concentrated in the food chain.
