Water Research on the web:

Abstract:

Session will include a short demo and list of good bookmarks of interest to teachers. After an orientation on browser use, I propose conducting an "Internet Treasure Hunt" asking participants to find obscure (but relavent and available) information on the Web. For example:

     1. Find and download an image of a Kentucky Wetland
        and a Kentucky Mountain Stream

     2. What was the flow in Boulder Creek, CO. last Tuesday

     3. Name the largest river in Ruwanda (Africa)

     4. What is the E-mail address for the Director of the
        US EPA.

     5. How many locks and dams were there on the Kentucky River

Teams would have thirty minutes to come up with the answers, but they would also have to tell how they got there. Those that successfully complete the hunt will win a certificate or poster or some such trinket. The top twenty will be eligable for our web publishing session
