Calloway Middle School and Calloway High School Cooperative Education

A basic implication of an integrated project is that students will work together to integrate academic expectations from different areas and derive meaning from the connections. During the Calloway County High School Eco-bridge Environmental Research Project, which in collaboration with Ust-Donetsk School #2 in Russia focused on maintaining pure drinking water sources, students integrated the basic principles of the environmental sciences, multiculturism studies, school-to-work issues, as well as the shadowing and mentoring components of school reform. The students worked together to collect and analyze scientific data and then prepare technological presentations of the program results. The Eco-bridge students further employed cooperative education by instructing students from Calloway County Middle School in correct techniques and procedures of chemical and biological water monitoring.

The Calloway County Environmental Research Team's mission was to increase awareness and involvement in schools and global communities about environmental and energy-related concerns. Their mission was achieved through students teaching students to realize that "The Earth is our Common Home...The Environment is Our Common Concern." Due to students teaching students locally and world-wide, our earth can remain a protected environment for future generations.
